Ellas Crag

Ellas Crag is a 4 Star (Silver Award) guesthouse located in a majestic setting at the foot of Causey Pike, overlooking Skiddaw to the North and Catbells to the East — some of the best known mountains in the Lake District. We are on the road that runs through the Newlands Pass to Buttermere, connecting with the Honister Pass that drops down through the Borrowdale Valley. It is the perfect starting point for a number of walks and for touring and yet it is only a 10 minute drive from all the amenities of Keswick — so you have all the space, views and easy off street parking by being out of town and yet you're within only a few minutes of a good meal after a full day's walking or sightseeing!

The night sky at Ellas Crag is stunning - on clear nights The Milky Way sparkles like a speckled band without any of the light pollution of a town setting. When there is a full moon, Newlands Valley and Catbells are bathed in a luminous glow. Wildlife abounds here and if you're lucky, you will see Barn Owls or Red Squirrels early in the morning, Buzzards and Kestrels by day and Bats in the evening. It is not surprising that many of our guests return to Ellas Crag, year after year.
